In order to function in this present world, God has ordained that we must utilize certain cognitive skills. It is when we began to use our cognitive skills (the carnal mind) to overrule God’s guidelines that a problem arises. This is the part of us which inwardly questions the ways and guidelines of God.  As Paul also said, this is the part of us to which the things of God seems foolish.

This is the natural man which is in us all. Paul tells us that the things of God seem foolish (stupid) to this part of us. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  1st Cor 2:14. In order to reach the place of self understanding, as God would have us to, we must deal with this aspect of our psyche. Psyche (psychology), a concept of intangible self.

 In his word, God tells us how we got here, our purpose now that we are here, and what takes place on the other side of life.  He tells us about the coming day of judgement and what we must do in order to be saved from it. As we are presented with God’s definition of who we are, our purpose, character, and our final destination, the walls our intellect have built either will fall, or become even higher. In order to reach the place of self understanding, we must accept God’s definition of us.

 Paul tells us we must deal with the carnal mindsets which fights against the truths of God. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;  2nd Cor 10:3-5.  

6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be, Rom 8:7-8.  As we can see, the Bible tells us there are two mindsets we can walk in. One is a carnal mind and the other is a spiritual mind. When it comes to the battle we are in, concerning the  choices we make, the opinions and attitudes we embrace, and our view of God, the  battlefield is our mind. It is therefore imperative that we by God’s help,  learn to discipline ourselves to think the way God would have us to.

Most people view themselves as being too smart and sophisticated to ever be mentally manipulated by Satan, whom many view as nothong more than a myth.  There is no one better at manipulating our thoughts and imaginations than Satan. Paul tells us that Satan is able to manipulate the minds of men (who reject the call of God),  to do his bidding as he sees fit.  “24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”  2nd Tim 2.  Those who underestimate Satan’s deceptive powers do so at their own peril.  A brief overview of Satan’s abilities and mindset clearly shows how powerful he is.  Is it any wonder that he is called  the god of this fallen world?  All of our minds can be manipulated to a degree, consider the following.

Where did I come from?  Why am I here? What happens to me when I die?  Out of all the various creatures that dwell on the planet it is our ability to ponder these and similar questions which make you and I  so unique.  No other creature on earth (dogs, cats, etc) can ponder these things in the way in which you and I are able to do.  What gives us this abilities to do so above all other earthly creatures is the mind that our divine creator placed in us..

No one wants you to seriously ponder this journey that you are on more than your creator does. It has been his will from the day that you were born, that you get to a point where you really wanted to grasp what your life is really all about.   God is not  intimidated by enquiring minds which ask,  who am I? what is my origin? What is my purpose? What’s beyond this life? 

 In fact you were designed in such a way as to meditate, and reflect, about life.   Your creator has given you the ability to both comprehend yourselves and Him.   By divine design  your creator designed your minds in such a way, that if  you seriously and honestly think, certain questions will come to mind.  Your creator  then placed the answers to these perplexing questions, in his instruction manual for the thinking man, The Bible.

 When it comes to the origin, purpose, and destiny of man, no one better explains these items to the minds of men, than the creator of the mind.   Reaching the place of  true self understanding, (our origin, purpose, and  eternal destiny) is not difficult.   As incredible as this may sound you actually have a inner sense and awareness of your divine creator, which was placed there by Him.

 As Paul explains “26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him, reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’’  Acts 17:26-28  NIV. 

Amazinglyby divine design our creator has designed us in such a way as to enable us to hear His voice if we sincerely desire to know Him.  We are encouraged to not miss this opportunity to communicatively interact and respond when this process begins to take place in our lives. “15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts (mind).”  Heb 3.  God deeply loves us all and He has promised us that if we seek Him with a sincere to truly know Him, He will be found of us. “11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart  (MIND).14 And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.”  Jer 29

Regardless of the part of the world we live in, the Bible tells us that since his casting down to the earthly realm, Satan has gained the ability to deceive and manipulate the minds of all men the world over.

 “⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Rev 12.  

We are also noted that the agenda of this great mind manipulator is to bring about the total demise of humanity. “¹⁰ The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: “Jn 10. One of Satan’s most powerful weapons against us is our own arrogance and coupled with our unwillingness  to believe what God says about Satan’s ability to manipulate our minds.  Many today find any suggestion that their minds have been blinded by Satan. comical to say the least. The concept that many have of Satan is one where he is nothing more than a mischievous and harmless cartoon character. 

Satan is often depicted as Halloween character in a red costume with the pointed ears, horns a tail, and a pitchfork.  Satan no doubt is delighted with this depiction, because this is exactly what the great deceiver wants us to think.  Not only this but many today view themselves as being too intelligent, well educated and street smart to be deceived or misled by some mystical being.

Many skeptics today scoff at the notion  that they are under the influences of Satan and the powers of darkness.  In their mindset, there are no satanic powers, and even if there was, they are just harmless Halloween lure.

There is no other being who is a greater threat to both our faith and very survival than Satan himself.   This is due in a great part to how he stealthily attacks us on every side, while deceiving us into believing that our eternal survival is not at risk at all. 

Satan is able to manipulate the minds of men primarily through deception, temptation distraction, and discouragement; to accomplish his deception he targets our thoughts, imaginations and desires.
